First visit with the Physical Therapist

OUCH! What a day this was. There was GOOD NEWS and BAD NEWS.

The GOOD NEWS is that I am 3 - 4 weeks AHEAD of the average person who has lateral knee replacement. This is surely due only to the GRACE of GOD, answered prayers and the healing power of His Word, with a Merry Heart. God is so good.

I am able to walk upright only using the walker to ensure balance.

The BAD NEWS is that he assigned new exercises that are more taxing . . . and I am scheduled to see him EVERY DAY this week. Pray for his soul as I witness to him of God’s wondrous grace.

The Ice Pump Machine that the hospital used on me every day, all day, belong to us
. . . so my dear Cynthia hooked it up after therapy today. WOW! What a difference ice makes. Thank God for ALASKA! Mucho frigid.

I am so glad we were able to rent a vehicle down here. (Thank you for your thoughtful and selfless generosity.) With therapy and doctor’s appointments for the Pools and all my appointments, we would have never made it work with one vehicle.

It has been wonderful to have faithful, strong and compassionate David here to help. The first two days getting in and out of the car were tough trips. Dave also established the best routes for travel to the labs, doctors, therapists, etc. This will make it easier on Cynthia and me when David leaves on Thursday.

Our Missionaries John and Connie Hinton (Brazil) were with Cynthia at the hospital during the 6+ hours at the hospital for surgery. They have been very kind, as has the wonderful Pastor and Staff of Trinity Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas.

I have learned and grown from this new relationship with TBC.

“The Glory of the Lord shall endure forever; the Lord shall rejoice in His Works . . .”

If God rejoices in His works, I think He enjoys hearing me rejoicing as well. His works may involve pain, soreness and hurts unmentionable - - but we can ALWAYS rejoice in the LORD – ALWAYS. God must enjoy sharing this with his child; I know His child does.

Thanks for praying and for all the encouraging comments. I read them often and rejoice.

  2. Hello Pastor,
I'm tempted to pretend to "comfort" you as Job's "friend" did. "Behold, thou has instructed many, and thou has strengthen many hands. Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou has strengthened the feeble knees. But now it is come upon thee..." (Job 4:4)

Well its your turn to let someone else "strengthen YOUR feeble knees"!

Obey them that have rule (Mrs. Duffett & David) over you. (and your doctor too;-)

Praying for a speedy recovery and opportunities to Glorify our Lord.

  3. We're praying for you, Preacher.

Bro. Ryan encouraged us to view a video of knee replacement surgery online. I shuddered. No, thank you. I'll wait until AFTER my surgery, and THEN I'll watch the video.

Your comments about the pain are kinda scary, but I will remember your response about the pain that our dear Saviour endured for us when it is my turn to have my knees replaced.

I've been doing P/T exercises in advance, but I know they're a piece of cake compared to the "after surgery" ones.

    Our prayers are with you.

Today was a good day for me as 1st time since 6th grade I ever got to go snow machineing--at 50 1st time someone taught me & let me ride myself--so that was fun--good thing I bundled up good & had the proper gear per se. Everyone is praying for you & missing you & Brother Ryan & everyone are doing their parts to keep us going & informed. 6. Greetings

Pastor, my husband and I were visiting from California 1-3-1-10 2010, when we got the privelage to hear you preach.
We want you to know that the Lord directed us to BBC. We were looking for this church we found in the phone book and when we went to find it, it wasn't there. We looked again, checking our maps and directions..... nothing. Just when we were about to give up on attending church, it was as if BBC had leaped up to the edge of the road. We were thrilled.
Upon entering the front doors, we were greeted with the warmth and hospitality of those who obviously love Jesus! Then, what followed next knocked our socks off and blew our hair back.
We were washed with songs of joy and filled to overflowing. And then you followed up with a message of conviction and hope, illuminating and power filled!!! We wanted more and decided to come back the following Sunday.
OH MY!!! Ryan preached one of the most God directed, Spirit filled sermons we'd ever heard. We sat stunned for a moment after, just soaking up all the good that the Lord had just lavished upon us. The riches that flow from the two of you...... oh my, may you both be blessed beyond measure for the gift of love you two showered upon our parched thirsty souls. It was BY NO MISTAKE the Lord directed us to BBC.

Pastor, Forrest and I have been praying for you, and we'd like to offer one up right now.
Father, Doug obviously delights in Your Word, and he has obviously committed his way unto You.

Lord, continue to give him joy as he trusts in You for and expeditious healing and comfort as he gives You reverance and worships You.

It is written in You Word that Jesus Himself took our infirmities upon Himself and bore our sicknesses. Therefore on that authority may Doug continue in boldness and confidence to claim healing for his knees. He has everything he needs in You.
Father, we know that YOUR WORD DOES NOT RETURN TO YOU VOID and for that, we bless Your Holy Name. Enourage Doug Lord as he continues to witness to any and all who will listen to the message of Salvation. Father, THIS is the day of salvation and we pray that even those whom Doug may not be aware of; but that are listening, that You would bring thses to a saving knowledge of Your Son Jesus Christ. Father, we ask that You thrust Doug into their paths aa a laborer who shares Your Gospel in a special way. CAUSE them Father to hear and to understand.

Post Your warring and ministering angels around so the enemy can't snatch the seed. Jealously guard them Father. Place a hedge of protection around them. Use him Lord to help set the captives free.

Father, give Doug that peace that passes ALL understanding. And in the mighty name of Jesus we pray these things, Amen!
Thanks again for the blessings you folks emparted to us. We felt the Lord lavish His love upon us through you folks.

May you and your household be touched with a storehouse of blessings and those at BBC.
    Trusting Christ

I had to use a gmail address of mine so that I could write you this note. I chose a different name to put the account number under because at that time, I wasn't sure at that time about blogging and g-mails etc. a little skeptical I 'spose. ;-) I didn't know what they would do with my real information.
