The doctor is pleased with my progress; I should be able to move from the walker to a cane next week.
He is concerned about my Coumadin levels as he tries to thin my blood. Must be too thick from all the years in Alaska. He does not want to release me to return home until my next appointment which is mid-August. He said that flying itself poses dangers of blot clots; adding that to the danger of recent hip surgery, he wants me to stay here. Max Pool graciously drives me to Quest Diagnostics where they take blood every Monday and Thursday and send results to my doctor to ensure the thinness of my blood. You should see the black and blue marks on my arms from the needles. Of course, as a preacher, I am used to it :)
We were greatly disappointed at the first news of not coming home this next week, but I was committed to following “doctor’s orders” when we came here . . . so “no direction is direction.” If no new orders from the Lord have arrived, OLD ORDERS are still in effect, soldier. Over the years, I have watched individuals and families who liked some of the Lord’s counsel, but rejected that which was hard on the flesh . . . and the outcome was not pretty. I do not want to be guilty of not following orders.
I miss home so very much. VBT was always a highlight of my year. I LOVED working with the children each night. But, oh well.
Thank you for praying for me and loving my family. I will write more tomorrow, but wanted you to know the results from this follow up visit.
“God is good . . . all the time.”

You can see the bold white, steel hip is driven into his bone.)

I (Connie) had missed a couple of weeks of church on Sundays (because of my health and then having to be out in the fields to get the hay in) and it was so wonderful to be able to go on Wednesday. This past Wednesday, when Bro. Ryan Gray led us in some Scripture songs, what a joyful sound it was to my heart but you were missed very much.
ReplyDeleteYou and Cynthia are continually in our prayers; we are praying that your progress will go by rapidly so we can have you "home" again.
Love and Prayers,
The R. Wilson Clan
Ryan Gray preached about how we have a more sure word of prophecy than those during Bible times. It was an wonderful thing to come to a better understanding of this truth, that we(today) have the complete written Word of God - all that God wants us to know- and that that is better than when the saints of old actually HEARD the voice of God! That is an amazing but wonderful truth.
ReplyDeletePastor, reading your words here has been extra powerful also and it has been a great blessing to our family as I'm sure it has been to the whole church body. We appreciate your testimony and your trust in God to lead your life. Thank you for your faithfulness. We love you and Mrs. Duffett and are praying for you both.
