One week ago today, I was under the knife. It is hard to believe so much has happened. A brand new hip and a new lifestyle. From a busy life of not taking a day off from work in Fairbanks because there was so much to do and I loved every minute of it to being almost helpless. Cynthia has to dress me since I cannot bend over. I cannot drive. (Some don’t think that is connected to the surgery.) I look for the handicapped entrance to every building and I go nowhere without my faithful walker, on loan to me from the Pools. Before last night, I had to be helped into and out of the car. That hurdle has been conquered with God’s help.

Someone asked why I would choose the HOT summertime to come to Texas. This was NOT my choice; I was forced into this timing by the crisis of pain and immobility. How much more pleasant to be with the Pools in January, sipping ice tea on their porch early in the morning. Maybe next time. :)

My post-op follow-up appointment with my surgeon is July 17 and I will follow his advice as to the next step. As soon as we know the future, we will pass it on. We are taking one day at a time.

Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here.
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.

I have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and prayers from our tremendous BBC family. Every day cards arrive in the mail and sometimes by the STACK. Some contain beautifully colored pictures by the children who make up BBC but all include words to sweeten my trial and lift my heart. How I long to sing with you again and to preaching the unsearchable riches of our Great Saviour and His Perfect Word.

Faithful pastors of long standing have asked, “How can you be away from your pulpit for so long?” My answer is always the same: “I thank God for faithful men and our Faithful God.” What a joy to rest in faithfulness.

Great is Thy Faithfulness, Oh God my Saviour;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not;
As Thou has been thou forever shall be.

Psalm 119:24 “Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellers.”
