Update...

It has been one week since we boarded a plane to Fort Worth, Texas, to see an Orthopedic Surgeon on Friday. We are so very grateful for the gracious love and hospitality of Max and Carol Pool. We have had a WONDERFUL week of laughing, witnessing , soul warning, sightseeing and resting.

I met with the doctor on Friday, had x-rays taken and an in-depth consultation that ended with cortisone/lanacane shots in both knees and my right hip. What fun!!! The painful shot in the hip was a “diagnostic” treatment to discover the cause of my hip problems by observing my reaction to the shots. The doctor here thinks I might be suffering with bursitis, caused by the years of limping on my bad knees since 2004. Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, I drastically improved with regard to pain levels and mobility, but Sunday afternoon brought some returning problems, though not as severe as they were in Fairbanks... and each day since then has been up and down in pain levels.

My next appointment is Tuesday morning, June 9. The problem with my right hip outweighs the bone-on-bone situation in both of my knees at this time. The knee pain is tolerable; the hip problem is crippling and very painful.

Thank you for praying for wisdom and healing. I KNOW to Whom I belong and there are no anxious thoughts about any of this.

When our dear Saviour asked, “What shall I say?” (John 12:27), He responded with the answer we should all give: “Father, glorify thy name.” John 12:28.

May I humbly likewise say the same . . . since I, too, do not know what to say to all of this . . . except, “Father, glorify thy name.”

We miss our family, our home church and our daily responsibilities that continually humbled and challenged us; but we rejoice in this day that the Lord hath made and we will be glad in it.

  1. Hey Dad - We miss you! Things just aren't the same with you gone. It's kinda sad going to work in the office without you. :( But we'll have LOTS of work to catch up on when you get back. :)
Hope the doctors find out what's wrong and are able to correct it soon. We hate to see you in so much pain. Relax and enjoy the sunshine and give Grandma and Grandpa Pool a hug from us. Hope you can come home soon! I love you! - Joy
